It’s crawfish time!

One of my favorite things about living in Houston was crawfish season. (Or crayfish. Or crawdads. Or little lobsters).

And its mainly a Louisana/Cajun thing. In Houston you’d go to your local ice house, get a bucket of crawfish and sit there and eat and soon be surrounded by caprices of a thousand dead soldiers, all red and spicy and with corn and potatoes.

Knowing this, I had spoken (bugged) Adam, the general manager of local bar Apothecary the Public for many many months, until I last week I was here for drinks with a friend from out of town and he said “Wednesday. Come by. Crawfish boil.”

It's crawfish time!

SO there we were. 6 pounds of crawfish. 4 people. And it was awesome. Not quite as spicy as I was used to in Houston (which was fine with me), but with delicious corn and sausage and mushrooms and amazingly good crawfish. Yum Yum Yum. I’m going to make this a regular thing – they’ll be serving it every Wednesday.

Damage? A not unreasonable 180 RMB / KG. 1 KG is probably good for two people.

    Carapaces.
Don’t worry, at least I’m not giving you a hard time for sloppy math errors, like I am for people submitting grants applications for six figures.

@Celia – If you wanted to dig through my blog for grammar errors (or mispellings or mis-use of words) – I’m certain you could entertain yourself for like 20 minutes! For some reason my blog entries are a lot less carefully constructed than other internet interactions.

Also, I wrote this when I was full of crawfish. Also, I didn’t know the actual correct word.
