haiti

by now, i’m sure you’re well aware of the brutal destruction that has struck haiti with the earthquake.

having spent some (not enough) of my time working with katrina survivors in houston after the hurricane in 2005, i know firsthand the need for resources – especially money and manpower that organizations need on the ground. fortunately for me, but unfortunately for volunteer efforts, i have been located pretty far from most recent natural disasters – but money . . .money i have access to.

and here is where i make a request. a lot of non-governmental agencies monies are not really well accounted for – so ofter times when making a charity donation, you don’t know how much will actually get to where it is needed. a really great friend of mine works in the ngo field and she highly recommends doctorswithoutborders.

if you do give, and it’s up to you, but if you are unsure where your money should go to do good, my humble suggestion is for doctors without borders.

we now return to our regularily scheduled non-food blog.
